Eagles head coach Chip Kelly announced Tuesday that Michael Vick is his starting quarterback. Vick had been in a battle with Nick Foles
and while both acquitted themselves well in two preseason games, Vick was almost perfect in Kelly's offense. He completed 13 of 15 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception in those two games. The interception came on a meaningless end-of-the-half Hail Mary.
So, Vick will be under center when the Eagles take the field in Washington on Sept. 9.
Fantasy Analysis:
The injury risk is ubiquitous with Vick, but Kelly's scheme is made for a running quarterback. I don't know if Vick will crack the top 12 at quarterback in fantasy drafts, but he is right on the border. I'm all for waiting on QBs this year. I don't know if I would wait so long as to make Vick my starter, but the upside here is undeniable. And so far, he has looked extremely comfortable in this offense.
