The Riley Cooper @RileyCooper_14 saga saw another development Friday as the fourth-year wideout was excused from the team so he could seek counseling after he was caught on video uttering a racial slur recently. Fantasy Analysis:

NFL columnist Mike Freeman tweeted today that he continues to hear that the Eagles want to cut Cooper. I think it's a tough decision for Philly, because if Cooper is released, Philly will have lost two of their top three wide receivers in a matter of days. It would be left to Arrelious Benn, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson, or a combination of many to fill the team's massive void at its second WR spot.
But it's obvious that Cooper's actions -- he not only said an awful word, but he did it with ill intent in his heart -- have caused a fissure. Running back LeSean McCoy said yesterday that he has lost respect for Cooper, and NFL.com's Albert Breer said today that some of his other teammates have not put this behind them "and might not be for a while." Cooper has apologized profusely, but it's clear that the wound here is fresh and deep.
So, is Cooper worth keeping for his value to the team as a football player at the sake of dividing the first NFL locker room head coach Chip Kelly has ever presided over? It sounds like probably not.
