TAMPA (FOX 13) -

When a group of girls head back to school Tuesday morning, they'll bring something with them that no one can ever take away: A world championship.

The girls of an all-star softball team from South Tampa won the Little League World Series, juniors division, this weekend – finishing an impressive unbeaten run.

They arrived home in style from their trip to Washington, where they beat the home-state team 10-1 to win the championship.

The local all-stars were made up of three different South Tampa teams. In all, they are a collection of the best of the best in our area -- and now the country.

"All 14 of them are great athletes, and you don't have to motivate a great athlete," said Michael Valdes, their coach, in their visit to FOX 13 on Monday morning.

The entire team joined us on Good Day Tampa Bay, dressed in uniform and holding their world championship banner.

"We knew back in December that if we could put it together, we knew we would have something very special," Valdes said.

You can watch their entire interview and see more pictures in the video.
