Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson is 15 days removed from knee surgery and has 19 days remaining until the start of the regular season. He wants to be ready by that date, but he doesn't know if he can be. Nelson told Paul Imig of FOX Sports Wisconsin on Monday that he is "slowly progressing" in his rehab. And when asked if he will play Sept. 8 versus the 49ers, Nelson offered a vague response: "Our main goal is San Fran. And that's just a goal. You never know what could happen. We'll just take it day by day."
Fantasy Analysis:
Hmmmm. That doesn't sound too promising. Nelson is running but often with the help of a weightless machine. We don't really have a clue as to when he'll return to football activities. He's at least questionable for Week 1, sliding toward doubtful. Let's hope it doesn't get any worse than that.
Nelson has seen his draft stock drop by about a round or so since news of his surgery broke. However, he is still a nice WR2 IF he plays in 15 or 16 games.
