Update: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bell is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks even if he doesn't need surgery. You should expect to hear more on this topic when head coach Mike Tomlin holds a press conference at 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday.

-------------------------------------------------------------

It looked like Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell had avoided a Lisfranc-type injury with his mid-foot sprain. But the rookie is getting a second opinion on his right foot today, and the Steelers think he will receive some awful news. According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, the team believes Bell does have a Lisfranc injury. He adds that the Steelers are hoping Bell doesn't need surgery but "won't be sure until he gets it double checked."

Fantasy Analysis:

Oy vey. Maurice Jones-Drew suffered a Lisfranc injury in Week 7 of last season and missed the rest of the year. Darren McFadden suffered a Lisfranc injury in Week 7 of the 2011 season and missed the rest of the year. If Bell needs surgery, his rookie season will have ended after four preseason carries. If he doesn't need surgery, he could still be out multiple months. It's brutal news for both fantasy owners and the Steelers, who now have to forge ahead with Isaac Redman @ired33, LaRod Stephens-Howling @LS_H36, and Jonathan Dwyer @JDwyer27 as their top backs. Redman is the favorite to start right away, but he is not a special talent. I would pull back from drafting any Pittsburgh RB right now.
