The Rams have been holding a running-back competition in camp. Through two preseason games, Daryl Richardson has played like a man who wants to win a starting job. He was officially named the winner today when head coach Jeff Fisher said Richardson will be his starter on Sept. 8 versus Arizona. Richardson has gained 68 yards on seven touches this preseason.

Fantasy Analysis:

Isaiah Pead @iPead and Zac Stacy have been Richardson's main competition for the job. Pead is averaging less than three yards per carry this month, and Stacy didn't even play this past weekend. In other words, Richardson claimed this job with plenty of room to spare. Richardson's ADP is close to cracking the top 30 among running backs, and his stock should be on the way up with this news. Don't go crazy, because Richardson will share carries to some significant degree, most likely with Pead, but he's a decent bet for about 250 touches, including 50-60 receptions, making him a low-end RB2 or solid RB3.
