Perhaps this is a case of one team's trash is another team's treasure. On Monday, the Chiefs sent first round WR bust Jon Baldwin to the 49ers for disappointing second-year receiver A.J. Jenkins
. Baldwin caught only 41 passes during his two NFL seasons and lost the WR2 battle this year to Donnie Avery
. A surprise first round pick by San Francisco, Jenkins went catch-less during three games as a rookie.
Fantasy Analysis:
Only three years of NFL experience exist between the pair, so we can hope that a change of scenery will kick start their respective careers. Just don't hold your breath. Baldwin has struggled to hold onto passes, though the 6-foot-4 red zone threat has the superior upside. Perhaps playing for a winning team and under the energetic Jim Harbaugh will turn Baldwin from underwhelming to at least mediocre. Seeing as the 6-foot Jenkins has yet to show any special qualities - or record an NFL catch, Andy Reid has a new project. Neither is worth drafting, though teams in 14-plus team leagues seeking a WR flyer could look at Baldwin after drafting a kicker.
