Snedeker recently put together four straight finishes inside the top 20, highlighted by a victory in the RBC Canadian Open. Since then he’s placed T33 at Firestone and a disappointing T66 last week at Oak Hill. Snedeker’s mini slump should end this week as he faces a serious downgrade in competition at Sedgefield, where he owns a T5 from 2009 and a T8 in 2010. He currently ranks seventh on Tour in birdie average, ninth in scoring average and third in All-Around Ranking.Simpson is making his fourth consecutive appearance at Sedgefield. Over the last three years he’s placed T8 in 2010, won in 2011 and finished T22 in 2012. Simpson has made six straight cuts this season, including a T14 at Firestone and a T25 last week at Oak Hill. Webb is now good for 16th in scoring average.Johnson continued his recent hot streak by finishing T8 last week at Firestone. That gives Z.J. four consecutive results inside the top 10. Johnson hasn’t played Sedgefield since a T26 back in 2008.Over the last four years Haas has recorded three top-25 finishes at Sedgefield, landing a career-best T9 last year. Since winning at Congressional, he’s added two more top-10s and three top-25s in his last four appearances. Haas is currently 12th in greens in regulation percentage, 18th in scoring average and 20th in All-Around Ranking.Sergio doesn’t always play Sedgefield, but when he does he performs extremely well. Garcia played this event back in 2009 to a solo fourth, yet didn’t return until last year where he claimed a two-stroke victory. However, Garcia is coming off an ugly pair of weekend rounds at Oak Hill. He still ranks first in strokes gained-putting and eighth in scoring average.Matsuyama has played each of the last four weeks with a T6 in the Open Championship, T16 in the Canadian Open, T21 at Firestone and T19 last week at Oak Hill. The phenom from Japan remains vastly undervalued and a very strong play this week.Since winning the John Deere Classic against a soft field like this one, Spieth dropped to T44 in the British Open and missed the cut at Oak Hill. He just recently turned 20 years old, so issues in big tournaments are to be expected. Spieth is good for 12th in total driving and fifth in All-Around Ranking.Kaymer is coming off a T8 at Firestone and a fairly solid performance at Oak Hill that was spoiled by a poor third round. He’s playing Sedgefield for the first time in his career. Kaymer was once among the top international players in the game, but has seen that reputation slowly decline. After missing four cuts in five starts, Toms has finished T16 at the Reno-Tahoe Open and solo seventh last week at Oak Hill. He missed the cut at Sedgefield last year, but finished solo second in 2010 and T17 the following year. Toms is a risky option, but suddenly owns something of a track record on this course.Last week’s T12 at Oak Hill marks Weekley’s best performance since winning at Colonial back in late May. Over his last four starts, Boo has finished inside the top 35 three times. Weekley ranks sixth in total driving and 14th in All-Around Ranking.Casey has finished inside the top 35 in each of his last four starts, starting with a victory in the Irish Open. He had a chance to record a top-10 in the 2011 event at Sedgefield, but came apart in the final round to finish outside of the top 45.Pettersson hasn’t recorded a top-25 finish since late March, but has done some very impressive things at Sedgefield. He won here back in 2008 and has finished T4 each of the last two years. Pettersson is a worthwhile shot in the dark based solely on his track record here.
